Speech Therapists - Carline Tan
  1. What three traits define you?
    Caring, conscientious, and fun!

  2. What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
My hand cream, especially with the frequent use of hand sanitiser.

  3. Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?
My family! But now that we can have a party with no limits on size, I would love to have my close friends too.

  4. Where is the best place you’ve travelled to and why?
South Africa. My speech therapy journey has taken me to different parts of the world. I had the opportunity to present my research at an international conference in Cape Town, South Africa in 2017. It was the coolest place that I have been to! My trip to the National Park was a blast. I enjoyed stargazing (I've never seen so many stars in my life. The clear skies and low light pollution make it a fantastic spot for stargazing) and being up close and personal with the animals and big five. The experience of staying in a safari lodge was just unforgettable.

  5. What are the three things you always have in your bag?
My organizer, sanitiser and hand cream.

  6. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
I’m blessed with a two-year-old toddler. It has been an exciting journey watching him grow and a great opportunity for me to apply my child development knowledge.

  7. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
30 minutes is so precious when you are a parent! 30mins of “me” time. I would run to the yoga studio for a proper stretch and sweat!

  8. What are 5 words you’d use to describe Dynamics Therapy Centre for Kids?
    Fun, child-centred, family-centred, strength-based, a collaborative team.

  9. What is your favourite thing about working as a Speech Therapist?
There are too many things I love about my job. I enjoy working with my clients, seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter and watching them improve and achieve functional outcomes in school and different social settings. I also enjoy collaborating with caregivers/ parents and teachers to support my clients to their fullest potential in different settings.

  10. What do you hope to achieve at Dynamics, and what sets it apart from other therapy centres in Singapore?
I think Dynamics offers a unique and holistic intervention model in Singapore. Not only can children be supported in 1:1 intervention sessions with a multi-disciplinary team, but Dynamics also offers the Early Intervention Programme and Social Skills Group for children. There are many opportunities for generalisation of goals to different functional settings (E.g. Early intervention school setting, small group setting in social skills group). This unique service delivery model provides opportunities for assessment of children and intervention to be carried out in the child’s natural setting (school, home). With a multidisciplinary team at Dynamics, there are also many opportunities for collaboration between different professionals. I look forward to working with and learning from my colleagues from the different disciplines!
