Udaya has 20 years of experience as a Speech language therapist. He has worked in USA for 3 years in Public schools and in Nursing homes for elderly. He was awarded the certificate of recognition for excellent work provided in District of Columbia Public schools USA. He has also worked in Singapore in various VWO settings catering to paediatric population with various difficulties related to speech, language, communication, oromotor and feeding. He has worked in multidisciplinary approach comprising of Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, Psychologist and Learning support.
He has received trainings in Orton-Gillingham approach for reading, writing and spelling, Fitz-Roy reading program, Dyscalulia program for children with difficulites in maths, PROMPT (prompt for restructuring oral muscular phonetic targets – for children with speech disorders), PECS (Picture exchange communication system), Hanen – It takes two to talk, Sign Exact English (SEE-II for deaf).
His special interest lies in literacy (reading, spelling and comprehension), dyslexia, hearing impairment and autism. His experience, skills and knowledge with children who have difficulties in reading and learning in mainstream school have enabled him to empower these children with the requisite skills. He strongly believes that successful therapy outcomes are the result of building trust with every child that comes to him, and parent education and involvement within the session.
